Short Bio

Dr. David Hausheer received his diploma degree in electrical engineering from ETH Zurich in 2001. His diploma thesis on Modeling of Dynamic Network-based Services was completed at IBM Research Laboratory Zurich. From 2001 to 2005 he has been employed as a research assistant for the Computer Engineering and Networks Laboratory (TIK) at ETH Zurich, where he worked in the Communication Systems Group of Prof. Dr. Bernhard Plattner. From 2001 to 2004 he participated in the European Union projects Market Managed Multi-service Internet (M3I) and Market Management of Peer-to-peer Services (MMAPPS). In 2005 he completed his PhD entitled PeerMart: Secure Decentralized Pricing and Accounting for Peer-to-Peer Systems. His main PhD supervisor was Prof. Dr. Burkhard Stiller.

Since 2005 Dr. David Hausheer is employed as a senior researcher and lecturer in the Department of Informatics (IFI) at the University of Zurich, focusing on accounting and charging for Grid and P2P services as well as decentralized auctions for bandwidth trading. He is currently involved in several European Union projects, such as the EMANICS: European Network of Excellence (NoE) on Management of the Internet and Complex Services, Access to Knowledge through the Grid in a mobile World (Akogrimo), Europe-China Grid InterNetworking (EC-GIN), and the EU COST Action 290 on Management in Wireless Multimedia Networks. Furthermore, he served as PC Co-chair for the 2006 IEEE International Workshop on Bandwidth on Demand (BoD 2006), Tutorial Co-chair for ACM Autonomous Infrastructure, Management and Security (AIMS 2007), and TPC member for AIMS 2007 and ICC 2007. He has co-authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications (e.g., IFIP/IEEE IM, IFIP Networking, IEEE P2P, IEEE ICC) and acted as a reviewer for more than 30 journals, conferences, and workshops (e.g., IEEE Multimedia, Computer Communications, JNSM, Globecom, IEEE/IFIP NOMS, DSOM, MMNS).
